Christmas and New Year’s Sanitation Schedule

All citizens who are normally scheduled for Friday Sanitation pick-up will receive their sanitation service on Thursday for Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The City will also be picking up Christmas trees this year on Friday January 8th and Friday January 15th. ?Citizens are asked to place their trees at their normal sanitation pick-up location.

City Mourns Passing of Councilman Russ Armstrong

Third Ward Councilman Russ Armstrong passed away on Monday December 7th.

Mr. Armstrong served five consecutive terms on City Council after being appointed to the position in 2007. ?He was set to serve another term beginning in 2016.

As Chairman of City Council’s Street Committee, Mr. Armstrong was a driving force, spearheading many improvements to the City including the paving of Fox Addition, Zane Highway, and waterline replacements in Hillendale and County Road 4. ?He served as a member of many committees including Finance, Income Tax, and Code Administration.

Mr. Armstrong was a tireless advocate for the people he represented as well as a strong voice for the City of Martins Ferry. ?Most importantly, he was an admired colleague and a great friend who left a positive and lasting mark on the city he loved.
